Jim has been practicing since 1987 and is passionate about helping others with relief from pain and immobility.
Specialties: Orthopedics, Manual therapy, neck and back pain, acute herniated disc programs, post operative laminectomy, fusion, discectomy, stenosis, Sports Medicine.
Education and Professional Certifications: BS in PT from the University of Florida in 1987 and MBA from James Madison University in 2002 and Certified in Direct Access Physical Therapy.
Professional Affiliations: Member of the American Physical Therapy Association Private Practice, Orthopaedic, and Sports Medicine Sections.
Personal Interests: Jim enjoys coaching AAU football in Greene County and VABA boys and girls basketball in Charlottesville. He is active at Portico Church. Jim enjoys working with Melissa and they have two sons Derek and Patrick, Harley the Labrador and Jackie the cat.

Melissa has been practicing since 1988 and has worked in a variety of settings in Virginia and Florida.
Specialties orthopedics, manual therapy, neck and back pain, shoulder injuries, joint replacements, BPPV-vertigo treatment.
Education and Professional Certifications BS in physical therapy University of Florida in 1988. Certified in Direct Access Physical Therapy.

Personal Interests Melissa enjoys working with her husband and best friend Jim, as well as relationships with friends and community activities, being a mother to her two boys and active with Portico Church. In her free time she likes to keep in shape, watching football and rooting for the UF Gators. Go Gators!!!

Marty has a passion for physical therapy with a focus on the latest evidence-based practice in treating general orthopedic and sports-related injuries. Marty feels success comes only with the establishment of patient-specific rehabilitation programs.
Specialties Marty has a heavy emphasis in manual therapy techniques (joint & soft tissue mobilization), spine management, knee & shoulder pain/post-operative rehab, strengthening progressions, sport/activity specific rehab & training, return-to-sport progressions & functional testing, patient education for self-management & injury prevention and exercise prescription.
Education and Professional Certifications Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Delaware in 2006 followed by completion of a Post-Doctorate Sports Residency at the University of Delaware in 2008. Marty is currently the only board certified physical therapist in Charlottesville in both Orthopedic and Sports Clinical Specialist. Marty is also certified in Direct Access Physical Therapy.
Professional Affiliations Member of the American Physical Therapy Association, Sports and Orthopedic Sections.
Personal Interests Marty enjoys exercising, hiking/running with his dog, golfing, officiating basketball, anything on ESPN, and volunteering, but by far he enjoys spending time and doing these things with his wife the most. Physical therapy runs in the family as Marty’s wife is currently the physical therapist for the US Nordic Combined Ski Team.

Education and Professional Certifications MSPT from Shenandoah University in (1996) and BS from College of Charleston in (1993.) Jean is a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Sport Yoga instructor, Personal Trainer and Certified in Direct Access Physical Therapy.

Personal Interests Jean is an avid tennis player who also enjoys yoga, paddle boarding and cooking. She is married, has two daughters and two golden retrievers.

Tara has been a practicing Physical Therapist since 2006 and a Certified Athletic Trainer since 2003. She recently moved to Charlottesville from Park City, Utah, where she was head Physical Therapist for the US National Ski Team (Women’s Alpine and Nordic). She has a passion for sports medicine/rehab along with a specialty in orthopedics.
Specialties: Sports and orthopedics, manual therapy, return to sport progressions, sports injury prevention, spine management.
Education and Professional Certifications: BS from University of Virginia (2003) in Athletic Training; Doctorate of Physical Therapy from University of Delaware (2006). Tara is a Certified Athletic Trainer and Orthopedic Certified Specialist. Tara is also certified in Direct Access Physical Therapy.
Professional Affiliations: Tara is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association.
Personal Interests: Tara enjoys skiing, hiking, camping, and generally being outside as much as possible. She is looking forward to rooting on her Alma mater in person now (Wahoowa!). She loves spending time with her husband Marty and dog Tiki.
